With over 45 years of experience in repairs and servicing, my journey began in the mid 1960’s with a self-built guitar inspired by a friend’s Fiesta Red Strat and Vox AC30 TB. This ignited a lifelong passion for guitars, music and technology.

I’ve spent many years repairing fretted and bowed instruments, providing top-tier service to musicians at all levels, including Cape Town’s leading music retailers. My work includes guitars, basses, banjos, ukuleles, mandolins, ouds, violins, and cellos, always aiming for unbeatable quality.

I’m always available to offer advice and will find the right answer if I don’t know it. Due to limited space, please schedule a suitable time for your instrument. Accurate estimates require an in-person assessment.

380-year old East European Cimbalom

A notable project was the restoration of a 380-year old East European Cimbalom; this took around 8 months of “in between work”.

1
Rare 6-string Gallotone banjo

Complete restoration of a rare old 6-string Gallotone banjo. The fretboard wood was so old, you could crumble it between your fingers.

2
Restoration of a ’58 Strat

Full “aged” restoration of a ’58 Strat which had been sanded down and hand-varnished because they wanted to “see the wood”.

3
Red LED's Fitted to Strat

Fitted peripheral Red LED’s to a Perspex Strat guitar. LED’s activated with lead plug-in. Looked awesome on a dark stage.

4
Guitar neck truncated at the 5th fret

An acoustic guitar with the neck truncated at the 5th fret. Looked crazy; client wanted it specifically for 2 songs instead of using a capo.

5
The “hissing” acoustic

The “hissing” acoustic – client couldn’t understand it. To my horror I discovered a juvenile venomous snake inside; instant heart beat elevation.

6
Tarantula

While cleaning and polishing an acoustic guitar, out crawled a monstrous hairy black Tarantula type spider; I aged another few years.
